Balinese Wedding Ceremony is unforgettable momentum for the human being where the procession is followed by Hindu rituals, custom regulation and the perfect day based on Balinese Hindu Calendar. Marriage couples use the beautiful uniforms which are all adapted from the local during the procession. For Balinese, especially for Balinese Hindu, their wedding is one of the most important things in their life as the wedding ceremony is a sign or an announcement that he or she is to begin a new level of life by leaving the Brahmacari stage.
The 4 day´s celebration started with “Memadik” process, where the groom’s family meets with the bride’s family to ask the bride if she wants to marry the groom. If the answer is yes, the bride will go with the groom to his family’s house.
Later Manon and PJ hold a wedding ceremony where many people from both families, along with friends and villagers, witnessed the wedding ceremony.
After the wedding ceremony, the couple and their families went to the bride’s house to say “good bye”.
The third day started with “Runaway bride / Kidnapping the bride”. Marriage is not sanctioned by any of the bride’s parents or usually found in different dynastic marriage, where the women left home to get married without the knowledge of their parents. For people who have caste Brahmin Hindu women are not allowed to marry a lower-caste man. Although in Manon´s case her husband PJ comes from the same caste, they decided to have kidnapping ritual.
The morning after the proposal, the priest performed a ceremony called "Mekala - Kalaan", which is similar to a small civil wedding in the west. It was a very private celebration. Then they were legally married.
Mantras are chanted and offerings were given in order to purify the sperm and the egg in the hopes that the two will be free from the influence of evil and demons will not interfere in the formation of the embryo.
Marriage to the Balinese, is essentially a good, to give opportunity to the ancestors, to blossom again, in order to repair the damage later in life the past. Of this number all living beings, are born as humans, can do good or bad. As for removing the bad deeds into good deeds, it is a benefit to be human.
Besides aiming to bring together two different human sex, marriage for the Balinese aim to give birth to children, descendants continue, and nurture it lovingly, really a good deed and dedication to the ancestors. Moreover if the child can be nurtured and educated to be good human beings, would constitute an act exceeding one hundred yadnya, as mentioned in the Vedas.
Marriages of Hindus in Bali, is a sacred, and sacred, and therefore at the time of the Vedas, the marriage is determined by a priest, who was able to see clearly, beyond the spiritual vision, which will be mated pair. With a view of a pastor, or not fitting a suitable bride and groom, will be seen clearly.
On the 4th and last day of celebration, wedding reception was hold at Morabito Art Villa for friends and closest relatives of the couple and the reception had strictly western style.
